How do I enable Javascript in my web browser?



Internet Explorer

Please complete the following instructions to activate and enable JavaScript in Internet Explorer.

PC

  1. In the Tools drop-down menu, select Internet Options.
  2. Next, select the Security tab.
  3. Then, select the earth (Internet) icon.
  4. Then select the Custom Level button.
  5. Locate Scripting near the bottom of the list.
  6. Under Active Scripting, select Enable, then hit OK.
  7. Answer yes to the following conformation box.
  8. Hit OK to close the Internet Options window.
  9. Finally, hit refresh on your browser window to enjoy the javascript.


Firefox

Please complete the following instructions to activate and enable JavaScript in Firefox.

PC

  1. In the Tools drop-down menu, select Options.
  2. Next, select the Content icon/tab at the top on the window.
  3. Then, check the Enable JavaScript checkbox under the Web Content category.
  4. Hit OK to close the Options window and save your changes.
  5. Finally, Refresh your browser.

MAC

  1. Select the Firefox menu item from the Apple/System bar at the top of the screen.
  2. From the drop-down menu, select Preferences...
  3. Select the Content icon/tab at the top on the window.
  4. Then, check the Enable JavaScript checkbox.
  5. Close the Options window to save your changes.
  6. Finally, refresh your browser.


Safari

Please complete the following instructions to activate and enable JavaScript in Safari.

PC

  1. In the Edit drop-down menu at the top of the window, select Preferences...
  2. Select the Security icon/tab at the top on the window.
  3. Then, check the Enable JavaScript checkbox.
  4. Close the window to save your changes.
  5. Finally, Refresh your browser.

MAC

  1. Select the Safari menu item from the Apple/System bar at the top of the screen.
  2. From the drop-down menu, select Preferences.
  3. Select the Content icon/tab at the top of the window.
  4. Then, check the Enable JavaScript checkbox.
  5. Close the window to save your changes.
  6. Finally, refresh your browser.


Opera

Please complete the following instructions to activate and enable JavaScript in Opera.

PC

  1. In the Tools drop-down menu at the top of the window, select Preferences...
  2. Select the Advanced tab at the top on the Preferences window.
  3. Find the Content item in the list on the left-side of the window and select it.
  4. Then, check the Enable JavaScript checkbox.
  5. Click OK to save your changes and close the Preferences window.
  6. Finally, Refresh your browser.

MAC

  1. Select the Safari menu item from the Apple/System bar at the top of the screen.
  2. From the drop-down menu, select Preferences.
  3. Select the Content icon/tab at the top of the Preferences window.
  4. Then, check the Enable JavaScript checkbox.
  5. Click OK to save your changes and close the Preferences window.
  6. Finally, refresh your browser.


Chrome

Please complete the following instructions to activate and enable JavaScript in Chrome.

PC

  1. Select Customize and control Google Chrome (wrench Icon) to the right of the address bar
  2. From the drop-down menu, select Options
  3. Select the Under the Hood tab at the top of the window
  4. Under the Privacy heading, select the Content settings button
  5. On the left, under the features heading, select JavaScript
  6. Select the Allow all sites to run JavaScript radio button
  7. Finally, close both preference windows, and refresh the browser

MAC

  1. Select the Chrome menu item from the Apple/System bar at the top of the screen.
  2. From the drop-down menu, select Preferences...
  3. Select the Under the Hood tab at the top of the window
  4. Under the Privacy heading, select the Content settings button
  5. On the left, under the features heading, select JavaScript
  6. Select the Allow all sites to run JavaScript radio button
  7. Finally, close both preference windows, and refresh the browser


iPhone

Please complete the following instructions to activate and enable JavaScript in iPhone.

  1. Select the Settings application/icon on the iPhone home screen
  2. Select Safari on the following screen
  3. Under the General heading, find the JavaScript item
  4. Select the JavaScript toggle to the On position.


How do I enable ActiveX?



Note: You do not need to enable ActiveX if you are using Firefox, Opera, or Safari.

To enable ActiveX in Internet Explorer 6 and later:

  1. From the Tools menu (the "gear" icon in IE 9) | Select Internet Options.
  2. Select the Security tab.
  3. Click Internet as the zone to change.
  4. Click Custom Level. The Security Settings - Internet Zone dialog box appears.
  5. Scroll down to the options below Internet ActiveX Controls and Plugins and enable the following:
    1. Run ActiveX Controls and Plugins
    2. Script ActiveX Controls Marked Safe for Scripting
  6. Click OK to save your settings and exit the Internet ActiveX Controls and Plugins dialog box.
  7. Click OK to close the Internet Options dialog box.
  8. Exit Internet Explorer.

ActiveX is enabled when you reboot Internet Explorer.



How to configure pop-up blocker?



  1. From the Tools menu (the "gear" icon in IE 9) | Select Internet Options.
  2. Select the Privacy tab.
  3. Click Settings button.
  4. Enter the following list as your allowed sites in the text field as shown:
    1. www.tradenet.gov.sg
  5. Click Add to add the site in the list
  6. Click Close to close the Pop-up Blocker Settings dialog box.
  7. Click OK to close the Internet Options dialog box.


How to set "Every Visit to the Page"?



This guide is to ensure that the browser always take the version of the page.



To enable "Every Visit to Page" in Internet Explorer 6 and later:



  1. From the Tools menu (the "gear" icon in IE 9) | Select Internet Options.
  2. Select the General tab.
  3. Click Settings button in .Browsing History or Temporary Internet Files in older versions.
  4. Choose Every time I visit the webpage or Every visit to the page in older versions.
  5. Click OK to close the Settings dialog box.
  6. Click OK to close the Internet Options dialog box.


To enable "Every Visit to Page" in Firefox:

  1. Type about:config in the URL box in Firefox
  2. Click on I'll be careful, I promise! button in the warning page.
  3. Then find the browser.cache.check_doc_frequency and change it to 1. This will force Firefox to check for a newer version of the page you're viewing, regardless of the servers instructions, or Firefox's default settings.


How to "Clear Cache"?



This is how you can clear your cache memory and history for the following browsers:



Internet Explorer 6

  1. From the Tools menu | Select Internet Options.
  2. Select the General tab.
  3. Click Delete Files button in Temporary Internet Files.
  4. Click OK


Internet Explorer 7 and later

  1. From the Tools menu (the "gear" icon in IE 9) | Select Internet Options.
  2. Select the General tab.
  3. Click Delete... button in Browsing History
  4. Choose or tick on Temporary Internet files, Cookies, and Form data and other options you wish to remove.
  5. Click Delete to close the Delete... dialog box.
  6. Click OK to close the Internet Options dialog box.


Firefox 2.x

  1. Click Tools
  2. Select Clear Private Data
  3. Ensure that the Cache is ticked
  4. Click Clear Private Data Now


Firefox 8.x and later

  1. Click Firefox dropdown button on the top-left section of the browser.
  2. Mouse over on History menu
  3. Click Clear Recent History menu or press Ctrl+Shift+Delete
  4. Click Clear Now
